How can u get a metal oxide catalyst back to use after a reaction takes place?

Hydrogen peroxide decomposes to form oxygen and water. The reaction is catalysed by a transition metal oxide such as copper oxide, manganese oxide or nickel oxide.
After using the oxide in the solution. . . . How cN u get it back to use?

Can you hydrogenate a carboxylic acid using H2 and Pt/C catalyst?

By the above mentioned reaction (in the title):
If you hydrogenate a carboxylic acid – will it work? And if so What would be the product?
Lets say the carboxyllic acid is ethanoic acid. Would it form propane?
Benzenecarboxylic acid forms ethylbenzene. Does that mean lone carboxylic acid will form an alkane?
